Although she wasn't in any of the classes I was working with that day, I happened to meet Olivia, a young girl fighting cancer, while walking through the library. She was staying inside from recess and instead was coloring bookmarks for her classmates. She seemed intrigued by my crown so I stopped to talk to her and look at her bookmarks!
Later that day, I went to say goodbye to Olivia, and asked if she wanted to try my crown on. Her eyes lit up, and I placed my sash and crown on her. I pulled out my phone and opened the camera in selfie mode so she could see herself, and her reaction was absolutely priceless!
Olivia certainly made my day, and it's moments like these that make me so glad to be a part of the Miss Minnesota Organization.
