This year marked the 51st celebration and a continuation of the legacy of a once so simple Jaycee project that began in 1964. I love Snowflake Days for many reasons, one of which is the fact that this city celebration happens in the middle of winter. Instead of sitting on the couch, curled up in a blanket, eating junk food, and binge watching Netflix (only speaking from past winter experiences), I have spent the last several weekends at fun events such as a kid’s medallion hunt, Martin Zellar concert, and the Valentine’s Day SnoBall Dance. For a full list of all the amazing events, click here.
My three favorite events, though, were the Community Sock Hop, the All-You-Can-Eat Waffle Breakfast, and the Junior Royalty Pageant. Before diving into the events, I wanted to take a moment and say thank you to our amazing sponsor Kat's Airbrush Tanning for my all month long tan. Kat's is seriously the best airbrush tan around not only because the product is so natural looking and long lasting but also because Kat and her team are so generous and friendly. |
All-You-Can-Eat Waffle Breakfast. One of my goals as Miss Coon Rapids has been to unite my platform with similar passion existing within my City. Through this unification, I hoped we could create immeasurable momentum surrounding youth homelessness. I’m speechless at the results. In conjunction with the Coon Rapids North Star Lions, the waffle breakfast was a fundraiser for HOPE 4 Youth, the homeless youth drop-in center in Anoka County. What was most incredible about this event is that over 400 people came out to eat waffles and to support this amazing organization and cause. |
