Walking into the official orientation at 8 AM I was greeted be all of the other women I had met the night before, and just about all of us had a cup of piping hot coffee. The Frazee Committee must have known about our caffeine addiction for in addition to the delicious breakfast and lunch they served us, they kept the coffee fresh and hot all day! Throughout the weekend they showed their dedication by volunteering and supporting this program. We are so grateful to the Frazee team for making our day so great!
Orientation was a blur - in a good way! To give a brief over-view of the day’s events: each candidate filmed a video talent introduction with Zandolee Media (the official Miss Minnesota videographer); each candidate introduced herself to all the participants; received a $50 gift cards to Maurices (our very generous sponsor); were assigned a roommate by a random drawing; went through Miss Minnesota Week expectations, agenda, production, backstage hostesses, and policies; heard a talk by Michaelene Karlen, Miss Minnesota; picked our competition order; and finally, performed our talents for everyone. Whew!
By the end of the day, I was Candidate #24. I had met my charming roommate, Alyssa Mess, and received great advice from members of the State Board and Miss Minnesota’s Michaelene Karlen and Brianna Drevlow. I was able to see a plethora of creative talent presentations by all the candidates! The day was s huge success. As a bonus, my Directors, Theresa Leggate and Mark Held drove me the 3 hours there and back for a fun a road trip adventure. I always appreciate time with my committee members, it’s a great chance to plan for future appearances and to get to know them better as dedicated individuals. I think spending time with Hanna, Mark, Theresa and the other candidates for Miss Minnesota was the highlight of Orientation. Thank you to the State Board and all of the volunteers that made it possible for us!
