Time has been flying by, it has already been two weeks since the Miss Coon Rapids pageant! The program was so lucky to have 7 incredible Miss contestants vying for the title this year- but more importantly, us constants were so lucky to walk away that night we 6 new sisters. Our bond backstage was instantaneous, I feel so grateful to have been surrounded by such supportive and empowered young women. I cannot wait to cheers everyone on during their next endeavors!
- Mission 600, the focus of my social impact initiative, will be incorporated into every aspect of my year of service. Through appearances at city events, visits to local classrooms, and social media posts that encourage at-home participation, I plan to collect 600 thank-you notes to send to each one of the service members actively stationed in the state of Minnesota.
- As a student who spent 13 years in the Anoka-Hennepin school district, I take pride in the education provided to the youth in our community. I plan to propose a 30-minute U.S. military education curriculum that will be incorporated into the social studies area of learning of our local schools; this will be taught on November 9th as a prelude to Veterans Day with the goal of helping students understand the importance and relevance of the national holiday.
- With a combined follower base of 1,227 users, the Miss Coon Rapids Scholarship Program social media platforms are an ideal tool that can be used to celebrate our local Coon Rapids veterans and active service members. Each week, my “#SpotlightSunday” initiative will use social media to highlight the accomplishments of a local Soldier, as well as allow the public to show their gratitude in the comments with the tap of a finger.
