Orientation was 2 days of fun! Our very own Coon Rapids graciously hosted this years Contestant Orientation at the Coon Rapids City Hall. Friday evening the Teen Class of 2018 assembled to go over the handbook, and read the role expectations. Miss Minnesota's Outstanding Teen, Emily Schumacher and her mom Lori, briefed us on what to expect if we are crowned the next Miss Minnesota Outstanding Teen. We also got to meet and thank our fitness sponsor MAI, which is the mirror reflection of I AM. They provided each Teen with a MAI tank top and yoga capris to wear for state competition in June. After that, we were taught Hands Only CPR by Emily. The next morning we were up early and and back at it, starting with Check In. For check in we finish handing in the last of our paperwork, along with our talent music. I was recognized for being the first teen to turn in all of their required paperwork, which earned me a gorgeous pair of earrings sponsored by Sarah Moses at the Pageant Shop. After a talk by our Executive Director, Kathy, there was another break out session where the teens had the opportunity to watch video of top 5 interviews from Nationals. After that we were treated to a lunch prepared by the Coon Rapids committee. Following lunch Erin and I took some time to take pictures and were featured in an Instagram live video taken by our new media Director, Rachel Latuff Betterley. It was then onto choosing contestant order. Because I had sold the most Ad pages for a Teen, I was able to pick first. I chose to be contestant #20 out of 20. On Wednesday all Teens will compete Interview. I will compete Lifestyle & Fitness, and Evening Gown & On stage question on Wednesday night, and Talent on Thursday night. State pageant will be help June 13-16. Keep posted for ticket info.

Big News!!! We just went National!!! My platform is Creating Generation Healthy, and to help promote it, I set a goal to partner with 100 childcare homes, in planting gardens, so that kids can learn about eating healthy. Goal Met! This year my Little Sprouts Garden Gang program will be providing free seeds and partnering with 100 child care homes in not 1, but 20 states. This includes 61 childcares in 58 different communities in Minnesota and 39 other communities from the the following states; AZ, CA, CO, CT, FL, HI, IA, IL, IN, KS, MA, MI, MO NE, NV, NY, OH, VA, WI. I am so happy to have a small part in the healthy development of children across our Nation.
The class of 2018 titleholders came together Saturday evening to support our Miss Minnesota Brianna Drevlow in her efforts to raise funds and awareness for CMN. We were each invited to share a story if we had one about someone we know who has been positively affected by Children's Miracle Network. I shared my story about my friend and classmate Quenten, who we affectionately call Q. Q has cerebral palsy, and spends most of his school day in a wheel chair. He has the most positive attitude, and fills our hallways with so much joy. He recently visited the Children's Hospital for a routine scheduled procedure. Sadly, Q ended up having a reaction, and ended up having to stay several days to figure out what was going on. The halls just were not the same without everyone's best friend to brighten our days. Prayers helped of course, but the care a child receives at a CMN hospital is above and beyond. They were able to resolve the issues and Q is now back in school with us again. I am so happy to advocate on behalf of CMN Hospitals, and share my story about Q, so that others can know that investing in CMN makes more than a difference, it makes miracles happen.
