What's wrong with being confident? Nothing! Throughout my years competing, I've learn to be 100% confident in myself and who I am as a person. This year alone, I've addressed crowds of more than 100 people, sang alone on stage at Miss Minnesota OT, and competed internationally in DECA competitions! Without my years of competing in the Coon Rapids program, I could never have dreamed of doing those things, let alone have a blast while I did them! Whether you're an extremely confident person or someone wanting to be a little more courageous, local pageants will help you home your skills in public speaking, first impressions, and overall self-imagine. Okay so it might not look exactly the same as this... But it's pretty close! The Miss Coon Rapids Pageant is known for giving out high quality scholarships in high quantity as well. Just by winning the pageant, you pocket $1,000 ($500 for teens) to use towards college tuition, books, or anything else college related. That doesn't even count the many other possible preliminary awards you could win along with it! (P.S. The first AND second runners up also receive scholarships! You don't have to win or even place to win preliminary awards either!) Not to mention, the winners move on to Miss Minnesota where they can continue to compete for even more scholarships! Sounds like easy money to me! :) Yes, believe it or not, you will absolutely love (almost) all of your pageant sisters! Competing in the Miss America System is one of the best ways to find girls whom you can really connect with. Whether you're backstage together beinging on Oreos after not making finals, or freaking out and crying happy tears together because one of you has just won, either way you know you've found a best friend for life. One of the best parts of competing is getting dolled up, having perfect hair and makeup, putting on a gorgeous dress, and having one day that's all about YOU! Pageants are the best excuse for young women to re-live their glory days of playing dress-up. Go dig that old prom dress out of your closet and show it off! If you have dreams of being a model, singer, or having a personal connection with your local and state representatives, competing in local pageants is the best place to start. You will make immediate connections with people in all these professions and it will help launch your career of goals. Not to mention all the fun sponsorships you will receive throughout your reign! Who doesn't love free stuff??

It's hard to believe it's already been a week since the Miss Minnesota's Outstanding Teen Pageant! It was a crazy week full of smiling, laughing, and lots of napping! I'm excited to say I was a Tracie Joy McBride Teens in Action Finalist, received the Scholastic Achievement Award, and was 1st Runner Up for MMOT! Never in a million years would I have imagined coming so far in this program, it was only 3 years ago when having the title of Miss Coon Rapids OT was all I ever dreamed of 😄 I couldn't be more grateful for my amazing committee, this program, and the people who surround it for helping shape me into the young woman I am today! Sadly I'll be turning 18 this fall and will be aging out of the Outstanding Teen program, BUT that doesn't mean this year will be the last time you see me on the Miss Minnesota stage 😉
Thanks again to everybody for all your support - Miss Coon Rapids Outstanding Teen, Leah Mau ❤️ |
