Wow! I can't believe it has been over 2 weeks since the pageant! I am so grateful for this amazing opportunity to serve the city of Coon Rapids and I am so excited for this year.
Since the pageant, I have been constantly preparing for state which is in a little less than a month! It has come so fast but I am so excited for it all. To preparing for phases of competition to getting paperwork ready to go, it has been amazing! I am so thrilled to be able to go to state as Miss Coon Rapids Outstanding Teen and to not only represent myself but the whole city of Coon Rapids.
Not only am I ready for this next year but I am so excited to start working with my personal platform "How to Save a Life: The Importance of Hands-Only CPR." My message for my platform is to teach and educate as many people as I can the importance of CPR and why it NEEDS to be known by every single individual because it will save lives. It is my goal by this summer to have taught 10,000 people CPR. I will be able to do this with my pdf that I have created called "CPR-RADAR". This pdf shows many things such as what to do incase of an emergency or signs to look for. I also will be going out into communities, businesses, and local schools to help teach CPR! I can't wait! With my platform I have three major steps that I enforce.
- Aware: I aware all of my students, parents, and community members the risks of heart disease, cardiac arrest, and heart attacks. This can hope to help them notice signs not only in their own lives but in others.
- Educate: Next, I educate on the importance of Hands-Only CPR and why it has become the number one technique used today! I also then educate how to perform CPR in any case of emergency.
- Train: Lastly, I train! I have my own CPR training kits full of mannequins for everyone to practice on. This gives a close perspective on what it would be like in a real life situation and what they would need to do in an emergency. I think this is the most important step because everything comes down to this!
I am so thankful to all our sponsors, directors, and volunteers who make all of this possible! We wouldn't be able to do it without you all! I can't wait for state coming up to represent Coon Rapids and for this next year!
Love, Miss Coon Rapids Outstanding Teen 2020
