It is crazy to think that Miss Minnesota week has come and passed. My experience at Miss Minnesota was nothing short of amazing. I am thankful to have been named a finalist for the Tracie Joy McBride Quality of Life scholarship, place in the Top 10, and receive the Miss America Community Service scholarship. As I reflect back, here are the top three lessons I learned from my week competing for Miss Minnesota. |
2. Be flexible and patient because very little goes as planned. Not every day is going to be a good hair day. You will forget to grab things on your way out the door. Wardrobe malfunctions and nerves change everything onstage. Any of the above situations can cause anxiety. The best piece of advice for me came from another contestant. She said that you cannot feel grateful and nervous at the same time. When caught up in these undesirable junctures or before hitting that stage, it became vital for me to take a moment, reflect, and truly appreciate the opportunities that have been afforded to me.
3. Leave with no regrets. I will admit that I am my biggest critic. Naturally, I analyze my every move and because of this it, I knew it the period after competition could make or break me. I could be sitting here at Starbucks wondering what I did wrong and what I could have done better, but I can honestly say, I have no regrets. I performed to my absolute best ability and left the week feeling so great about my competition performance and demeanor throughout this journey.
