I have been so blessed to be able to represent the amazing city of Coon Rapids this last year and a half. And what a time it has been! From Snowflake Days to the Fourth of July, my sister queen, Hannah, and I have certainly been kept busy. This year wouldn’t have been even remotely possible without the incredible support from everyone.
I can’t begin to express my love for this town, and more importantly, for the people inside of it. A huge thank you to the momma bear that is the wonderful director, Theresa Leggate. You kept me safe, on time, and most of all, happy. You put so much time into this program, and into making me a better version of myself. You believe in me more than anyone, and you made this year really special.
Thank you to the fantastic local businesses that support the Miss Coon Rapids program, particularly Dino’s Gyros. I’ll never forget the golf cart ride we shared at the Fourth of July parade.
Thank you to Megan Ehlert for being a marvelous supporter! You got me ready and then some for the pageant. You made sure I had what I needed, kept me stylish, polished, and sane in the business of Miss Minnesota week. Thank you again for all the help you gave me with my talent.
Hannah, you were the best sister queen I could’ve asked for! You are an absolute delight and such a ray of sunshine. Thank you for being one of my biggest supporters. Let’s do it again sometime. Sister queens forever!
Mom and Dad, you guys have been so helpful and supportive with my involvement in this program. Though the constant travel and financial support was very demanding on you, you did it anyways. Thank you for never giving up on my dreams or me. Mom, thank you for all the hours you put in helping me prepare for talent and interview, as well as making me adorable clothing to add to my “queen’s closet.” I love you both.
Izzy, thank you for being my sister, you still always know exactly what to say and what lipstick I should wear with what dress. I’m so glad these pageants have brought us even closer than before. They’ve given us the opportunity to grow like never before. You always told the truth, even when it hurt. I love you to the moon and back.
The Miss Coon Rapids Pageant Committee has been essential to my year representing this city. You’ve been there every step of the way, every appearance, and made this city feel more like home than anything else. Thank you all so much!
And finally, I’d like to thank the city of Coon Rapids for having me. Though I’m not from here, you all welcomed me with open arms, and made this place feel like a real home to me. Though my time representing you is over, I promise, I’ll be back soon.
Love,
Callista Wengel, Miss Coon Rapids 2017
