This past weekend, I made the trek up to Brainerd for the Miss Brainerd Lakes and Miss Central Lakes pageant. It was so great to meet some of the other ladies who were crowned this summer and welcome two more to the class of 2015. Congrats to Jade Hovet and Emily Lundgren on winning the titles of Miss Brainerd Lakes and Miss Central Lakes respectively. I look forward to the many memories we will make not only at Miss Minnesota but throughout the journey as well. In 2009, I had the opportunity to represent Minnesota as Miss Minnesota’s Outstanding Teen. The Miss Brainerd Lakes pageant was my very first appearance with this title. Now, not only was it my first appearance as Miss Minnesota’s Outstanding Teen but also the first local I have attended as Miss Coon Rapids. Because of this, Brainerd holds a special place in my memories and so do its representatives. I met Lauren Johnson at the Miss Brainerd Lakes pageant back in 2009. She had just been crowned the new Miss Brainerd Lakes, and I was so eager to get a picture with her. I was thrilled to have captured a new picture of us at this year’s pageant... same place, same event... but 5 years later. Starved by the time we got back to Coon Rapids, we stopped into Dino’s Gyros for a quick bite to eat. I have lived in Coon Rapids my entire life but am a little embarrassed to say that I have never been to Dino’s. Seriously, I have been missing out! Thank you Vona for the dinner and your continuous support of the Miss Coon Rapids Organization. We appreciate you and Dino so much!
