I could not have asked for better appearances to start off my year. I had a blast! I met so many people and am completely overwhelmed with the doors that have been opened since my crowning moment. I am so excited to see where this journey leads me especially as my platform continues to grow and develop with the bridges that have been built.
What a busy weekend! I not only had my first official appearance as Miss Coon Rapids but also the second. This past weekend I had the opportunity to attend the Pink Pumpkin Promenade on Friday evening and a volunteer appreciation breakfast for Hope 4 Youth the following morning both hosted by Mickman Brothers. Here’s a short story from my Friday night: Immediately upon arriving at Mickman Brothers for my first event, a young girl raced up to say hello to me. I told her what a beautiful painting she had on her face. Excitedly, she asked me if I could get my face painted too. Knowing the answer and not wanting to let this young girl down, I turned over to the Miss Coon Rapids committee member and my chaperone for the evening, Sue Leggate, and asked what she thought. She told the young girl that maybe after I finished speaking at this event I would be able to do so. Just a side note, if you have not had the chance to check out this short clip of my first speech as Miss Coon Rapids here is the link: https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=574628892642737&set=vb.137695626336068&&theater. This is a great introduction to where my heart lies and the passion that exists within me for serving my community. The minute I walked off that stage, this girl raced up to me and asked if now I could get my face painted. I caved in... But with a compromise. I could not have asked for better appearances to start off my year. I had a blast! I met so many people and am completely overwhelmed with the doors that have been opened since my crowning moment. I am so excited to see where this journey leads me especially as my platform continues to grow and develop with the bridges that have been built.
